JayBird Studios
My third and final studio that I visited on my trip in Toronto was Jaybird Studios. They are a Yoga and Pilates studio that incorporate music, candlelight classes and darkness to get you out of your head and into your body.
Of all the studios I’ve been to in the world, this was the most unique and out of the ordinary. I took a reformer class on a Friday morning and the class was packed. When you check into the spa like front desk they remind you to leave your phones in the locker room. As I walked in I noticed the mirrors were distorted so that you couldn’t spy on your neighbor or even your own body during the exercises.
The class overall was good but not as hard as I was expecting. The instructor didn’t correct form around the room which is always something I pay attention to after I took my pilates anatomy class. I do appreciate that they really focus on getting you to focus on your body and not surroundings. The music is amazing and guides you through the moves and pulses.
If I lived in Toronto I am sure I would visit this studio often, but mainly for their heated mat classes and not reformer. Overall the community seems inviting.
